GROOT VENLOSE ADVENTKALENDER
Ramona Nieuwenhuisen designed the Groot Venlose Adventkalender 2024 for Kiwanis Venlo Fides. Venlo’s town hall appears inside a snow globe on a calendar whose proceeds support local charities and projects for children.
A snow globe for the Groot Venlose Adventkalender
Kiwanis Venlo Fides invites a Venlo-based artist to design the calendar each year. For the 2024 edition, the invitation went to Ramona. She chose the town hall as the centre of a small winter scene, surrounded by snow, greenery and Christmas ornaments.
The snow globe gives the familiar building its own setting. Lit windows and small figures keep the scene lively, while the dark background leaves room for the gold lettering. The two images show the original design and the printed calendar with its numbered doors.
A design with a local purpose
The calendar brings together local businesses and the community around a shared charitable purpose. Proceeds from the initiative go entirely to local charities and projects that help children.
Ramona received the first printed copy of the Groot Venlose Adventkalender. For this commission, the finished object was something people could take home and open throughout December, with a recognisable piece of Venlo on the front.
